[color/shift] — photoshop-free #risograph color separations built on measured ink.
color/shift splits your images into clean, press-ready risograph separations — using real, measured ink data instead of generic screen colors. Assign any two, three, or more of your stocked inks, soft-proof the result against measured overprints and paper white, screen it, calibrate it, and export plates without leaving the app.
Built for publishers, artists, designers and print studios to get further inside of the color-separation apparatus...
What it does:
Three separation modes. colorshift (measured N-color profiles + the new [cs+] in-app color modeler), cmykinda (build a custom CMYK-style separation from your own inks), and duotone (per-ink tone curves — the whole creative edit in your hands).
Soft proofing on measured data. The proof is driven by measured ink solids, measured overprints, and paper preview control.
[cs+] color modeling — no test charts required. Model a separation in any of your measured inks by warping a measured profile's real mixing behavior onto new ink combinations. Design a look without printing a single calibration page.
Screening + calibration — custom FM/dither, feature rich halftone engine, and simple stochastic screening; per-channel angles and skew; press-linearity and dot-gain compensation presets, curves, and sliders.
I recentely added a studio pack that lets you add and build your own tools/data. Save your ink, papers, and overprints measurements. Build you own data-driven CMYK, n-color, and duotone paths. Save and re-use RGB curves, linearity curves, and drum-skew defaults — and export Photoshop-compatible .ado duotone presets straight from the app.
Real output — screened 1-bit and 8-bit PNG separations, DCS 2.0 EPS, and layout PDFs with registration marks — sized to your sheet.
Note — this is a research preview. color/shift 0.5.5 is an evolving beta and a native macOS app. It's a work in progress but fully functional (i think).
